It may feel like unprecedented is an over-used word at the moment but it is the simplest form of expressing the situation we find ourselves in. As we have already notified you of, rugby and any associated activities have ceased until further notice - the season has finished (for senior rugby we are not aware of the situation with relegation and promotion). There will also be no AGM until it is safe to do so. Whilst we will all miss rugby it is obviously the best thing to do to play our part in protecting ourselves, members and the broader community.
Myself, vice-chairman Ross Thain, Honorary Secretary Darren Dolby and Treasurer Henk Michels have already met to establish the financial picture moving forwards and begin preparation for the following season. Due to prudent budgeting the financial stability of the club is sound and we fully expect to be up and running as soon as it is right to do so. We have already started to put plans in place for the beginning of the 2020-2021 season, whenever that may be. Rest assured, when it is safe to do so, there will be a big welcome back event! Further information will follow when we have firm details.
My thanks go out to all members of the committee who have played their part in supporting me and the club at this time. I also want to extend a very special thank you to those who have put huge time and effort into organising tours only to cancel them and deal with all the fallout that has brought. These are just some of the difficulties that the 2019-2020 season has presented us and it is with the collective efforts of so many the we offer thanks.
Keep safe, look out for one another and let us know if we can help with anything at this very challenging time.
