Stamford Rugby Club recently hosted a Young Rugby Ambassador (YRA) workshop which was attended by 12 young persons who were keen to learn all about the scheme and how they could get involved. The workshop, which was delivered by Gareth Short from the RFU, was designed to show how anyone between the ages of 14 & 25 can volunteer in a host of different roles at their local rugby club and the host of benefits that they could achieve being members of the YRA scheme. The workshop involved a host of interactive activities including what they would like to change at their rugby club if money was no object and how they would plan going about tasks they chose to complete and what resources and help they would require. Stamford Rugby's YRA scheme has been running now for two years and during this time the YRAs have been involved in a number of activities including organising Kids Rugby Camps at the club, match officiating and assisting with Stamford's annual minis rugby festival. The next major project that the YRAs will be leading on is the Natwest Rugby Force weekend which is taking place at the club on 23rd & 24th June.
