Stamford Rugby Club held their annual Seniors Award Presentations night last Friday at the Clubhouse. The club celebrated the successes of both the men and the womens sides over the past season. The mens senior side finished a very creditable 5th place in their league and came just short in the Final of the NLD Mens Trophy competition. Both the mens development and veterans sides also produced a number of great performances throughout the season. Stamford Womens team, in their inaugural competitive season, went on to come 2nd in their league, which gained them promotion, and enjoyed success in winning the NLD Womens Trophy competition. Club President, Jai Nairn, said ‘ We are not only handing out awards to a small number of our senior players but are celebrating yet another successful year for the entire senior section at the Club. I know that everyone involved within the senior section really can’t wait to get stuck in with pre-season training and then on to the league and cup fixtures next season. I have a feeling that we will be celebrating even greater success at the end of next season.’ The player awards went to ; Mens player of the season / Mens tackler of the season & Mens players player of the season – Ben Chisholm, Womens player of the season – Hannah Dennis, Mens most improved player of the season – Joe Howard, Womens most improved player of the season - Hannah Pascoe, Womens players player of the year – Gemma Alcoran, Mens back of the year - Harry Bentley, Mens Forward of the year - Gareth Ramsden, Womens Forward of the season - Kayna Penrose-Toms, Womens back of the year - Georgia Mackinlay, Womens tackler of the year - Sili Koroibulileka.
